BMW designed and engineered cars that have excessive battery drain issues and faulty HPFP's. There's nothing complicated about either of these components, so if they scored low on the JDP survey as a result of things like this then its appropriate.
Personally, I'm not bothered much about things that break on a car since it happens no matter what car you drive. But what does bother me is when the dealership fails to correctly diagnose and fix the problem the first time I bring it in.
Recently my SA actually teold me that my car's automatic service notification CAN NOT work because I purchased my 5er in GERMANY even though it was U.S. spec. I didn't waste my energy responding to his BS - I just sent an email to BMWNA. They must have had a field day on that one since two days later I got a call from an apologetic SA asking me to bring the car back for a second look. The problem was solved with the help of a BMW "specialist" sent down to work on the car.
There's a fair chance that my HPFP will need to be replaced AGAIN.
Their poor rating doesn't surprise me at all......
