"BMW has already ?in works? the next instalment of their successful executive saloon. Several test mules have been spotted, pointing that a production ready 5 Series is to be released in the next three or four years. The current BMW 5 Series is around for more than 4 years, meaning that it is well in its middle age, and needing a successor around the year 2010. The next generation 5-Series will grow in overall length, by extending the wheelbase nearly 3 inches and widening the track, so will be bigger then the actual one..."

This is from a new review on the 2010 BMW 5-Series, from TopSpeed. You can read about it's performance, design, as well as other features. Also available is a video and picture gallery.

Completely speculative I am sure, but the concept renderings show a much improved style. A bi-turbo V8 would be outrageous if it is anything like the 3.0 in-line 6 bi-turbo. That engine rocks in the 335 coupe. I hope BMW design is on a similar track to these images.

The pics I've seen so far have all looked like a e60/3-series/X5 photoshop. I'm assuming the real deal will look nothing like what we've seen. They want to sell '08's and '09's so why would they devulge this much info (along with pics) of the new 5-series? I think they're way off.

BMW (along with many other car manufacturers) specialize in keeping this sort of info under wraps.....there's NO WAY tehy have opened the doors like this with 3+ years to go.

The information is basically what the German magazine auto, motor und sport presented some weeks ago - and they're usally well informed. What we still do not know is the design of the car; but knowing BMW it will take design elements from the show cars presented so far, as these also work as door opener for the pulic so that we get used to the new stuff when they actually arrive.

Biturbo V8 with 410 bhp Sounds like fun.

Lessee here ... the inline 6 went from 255 hp to 300 hp (conservatively) and 220 ft-lbs to 300 ft-lbs with the biturbos. So if the biturbo adds 85 hp to the old 4.4L V8 (from 325 to 410), what happens to torque? It's gotta go to at least 430+ ft-lbs (up from 330), right?

I'm thinkin' that engine would be more fun than the new M3 wind 'em-up.

I reckon Top Speed version should be closer to realityas the existing prototype (CS concept) is to show the direction they should be moving...
Please just give us diriver's oriented cockpit back
