The official launch of the E92 in Ireland is this Thursday so cars are not allowed out on the road or on the showroom floor.

The dealer where I bought my E60 asked me (about 6 weeks ago) if I were to order a car for delivery at launch how would I spec it.

I reckoned a 325iA, Sapphire Black, Jade leather, Sports seats, 188 alloys and a few other bits and bobs. He contacted me and asked me to call over at lunch time today and this is what he had in the yard:

Cool it.

The Jade Grey interiour is right but something is missing,
and I do not only mean the Styling 189 18" wheels...

 I know what u are getting at but is it worth the extra Euro11000 (or approaching $14000) for someone who does less that 5000 miles a year? And to rub more salt in to the wounds, one could buy a similarly equipped E92 in the US for half the price. The 325iA with leather, sports seats metallic, 188 comes to Euro66000. Whats that in $ - about $80000. I wonder what I could get over there for $80000. A similarly spec'd 328iA costs $41000. If you'd like to start a fund for me to help bridge the gap between a 325i and a 335i I gladly take any offerings.

Regarding the wheels, I did consider the 18" 189's at the time but I reckoned the ride would suffer too much. I drove an e90 on 17" and I wasn't particularly impressed. So what would the 18" be like? And the E92 is probably running a little stiffer than the E90.

As a wheel design I think the 188's are a nicer looking wheel. However, they could possibly fill the arch a little better. Mind you, the car is riding a little high in the pictures because it still had the suspension shipping chocs in there.

I'm still not sure I'll take to it. I didn't get the orgasmatron sort of feeling I was expecting. And after the E60, it did feel a bit small. I'll drive it at the weekend and consider my options then. :)

66,000 Euro is pretty close to $85,000. You could get a slightly used M5 for that amount over here. In fact there is one going on ebay right now for $80,850.

Hell yes

I got a quote for a 335iAuto with some options (18" wheels, metallic, half leather seats,
Comfort Pack, Hi-Fi speakers, darkened rear windows and steering wheel gear shifts).

The Comfort pack includes i.e. rear PDC, Professional Radio/CD, the better auto AC, cruise,
and some other minor stuff as rain sensor, auto dimming mirrow etc.

Total is 74.850 € x 1,28 = US$ 95,800.

I love the E92. All of the pics posted so far, including on this thread, look great.... however..... once the M Sport version comes out these SE's are going to start looking a little plain and a little staid IMO

Worth waiting I think....

Does anyone know when/if a M-type sport option is coming to the U.S.?

If the E60 is anything to go by then you may only be able to 'add' the M-tech bodykit to an SE. Do you get the E90 Saloon as a Sport?

average time is 3-4 years after release

Not quite.
The E60 was launched in Ireland on November 2003. I collected an SE in July 2004 and the M-Sport versions had just become available then. Less than 12 months. I thought that was a quick introduction and possibly because sales of the SE were slow.

The E90 was launched in March 2005 and sport versions have been available for a while.

Re the E92, I'd say next summer and the sport will be available here.

m630 09-30-2006 05:51 AM

....agreed in the UK and ROW, but the question was from a member in the US, where this option only becomes available near the late part of the product cycle....the e46 took 4 years to get the ZSP pkg which included the M-sport body kit  and as for the E60, we still dont have any such options for Msports and the car has been availabe for at least 3 years...
