If you don't need the space or extra doors then go for the 6.

Nix the 6, The X5 is a blast to drive . Get the V8 with Sport Package , you will be surprised how fast and agile these "SAVs" are.

So the new X5 has had minimal complaints in terms of mechanical or electrical problems? I'm considering the X5 as a second vehicle.

i would guess both unless its a lemon or something. when i took in my e60 for a faulty air bag sensor in the passenger seat, a technician i knew said it was a common problem. we saw an X5 there and told me that the X5 has no common problem period. 2 of my uncles have an X5 and never had a problem either. i believe that member ericdbs also has an X5, maybe he can also chime in.

I know they had some small issues with the 07s, nothing major , glove box doors . folding 3rd row latches etc. I drove an 07 4.8 for 2 weeks prior to delivery of my 550 and I loved it ( I also own a 06 X5 4.4 ) I cant recommend these enough. Even after driving the 5 series all week I still love driving my X5 on weekends. Order an 08, all the small stuff will be worked out by then.

Cheers

I would get the Cayenne S over the X5 4.8

Go test drive the Cayenne S and X5 back to back. The Cayenne is very impressive on and off the pavement.
