Audi can make engines. Audi's 1.8T is one of the most tuner friendly engines to come out of Germany. Their 4.2 liter V8 has won many awards and is bulletproof. There was also the 2.7 Biturbo in the S4 and A6, great poweplant. And now the monster RS6 Biturbo V10.

Yes only last RS4 is a NON turbo but lets see what i find in Wikipedia:
B7 Powertrain (RS4)
Power comes from a 4163 cc, V8 32-valve Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) engine (code BNS). This is a highly reworked high-revving variant from the old 4.2 L V8, having cylinder-direct fuel injection, and 4 valves per cylinder, instead of 5. It has two chain-driven double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank. It produces a total output of 420 PS (414.3 hp/308.9 kW), over 100 PS (99 hp/74 kW) per litre. Its a 4.2L Engine
M3 E92
This S65B40 is a naturally aspirated, high revving 4-litre V8 (based on the S85B50 5-litre V10 that powers the E60/E61 M5 and the E63/E64 M6 to date) delivers 420 DIN-hp (309 kW, 414 SAE-hp) at 8,300 rpm and peak torque is 400 N?m (295 ft?lbf) at 3,900 rpm.
Its a 4.0L engine.
And the test proves this:

Its really a non argument. Turbos are the future. 335i has I6 TT, X6 has I6 TT and V8 TT, new 7-seris has V8 TT and V12 TT. Also next M5 is rumored to have twin turbos.
Non turbo M cars are one of the best engines on Earth. The prizes they won confirm that. Way better IMHO than Audi.
