My Ride: AW E46 M3 Vert
Hey guys, I recently started thinking about trading in my 2004 545i with 74k miles for a 2007-2008 335i coupe. We have a 4 door sedan in the family and honestly I'm usually driving the e60 alone to and from work...anytime we go out somewhere we take the other car since the carseat is in it... I feel like it would make more sense for me to get a coupe or droptop and have that as my "fun" car instead of a mid size sedan. The 335i is reasonably priced these days...usually between 27-30k with 40k miles or less. Plus those turbo engines are so easy to get power out of. What do you guys think? Should I do it?

I've driven 335i twice as loaners. I couldn't wait to get my car back from service. But that's just me, maybe others have better experience with them. GL .

You mentioned you use your 5er as a daily driver to work and back. There's no way I'd trade it in for a 3er coupe (not even an M3) and use it in the same capacity. Now if I was adding a coupe/conv......
Just my 2 cents.

only scary thing is the hpfp with the n54 engine. But mods, gains, and fun factor on a 335i are a great "bang" for your buck.....

I can't agree. I love my 335 loaners. Those cars are great fun to drive -- they really feel fast and responsive. But yes to own, the HPFP debacle always looms.

My Ride: 545 modded the F out
+1 on what Rizbel said. I seriously couldn't even enjoy the lovely 335 coupe when I was having my car serviced cuz I missed my 545 so much. I personally am just more partial to the space and size comfortability of the e60. For me, its just the perfect blend between luxury, space, sport and power of course since its a V8. But I guess in your case since you already have a sedan that suits your family's needs and a "fun car" is what your lookin to get in then the coupe would be what I choose. If it were me tho and I went for the coupe "fun route" I would def look to get into an e46 M3.
GL with you decision.

Also, in my case since I have a 535i I'd be giving up space AND options if I switched. There's no way I'd do that.
One more thing - you will be giving up a V-8. It can be pretty hard to walk away from that without having some sort of withdrawal symptoms, gas mileage be damned.
Again - just my $.02. Either way you choose - enjoy
