Ya. Totally unexpected to me... say bye bye RS4... ISF... C63... etc etc... BMW is king still!

But I doubt those who need the size of a 550 will get a M3 sedan... there will be a few... but not much.
I think I would give up a couple inches of rear leg room, for a more involving car.

is that the base price, so what would that include, after any additions would the price go over 60? if i knew it would have been that low i would have waited for it but i still love my 535, now i have to chip it !!!

Based on every other BMW, I bet you could get it over $70k with all options. I'd guess the base model has few big opts. That will keep the weight (and the price) down for those that want to just track it. If you want the big opts, it will cost you.

You're right. I checked it out before I ordered my E93. The M3, with most options, comes to over $70K+. Worse yet, because of the demand, dealers are putting a $10K premium. I still like it anyway.

Honestly though, the rear legroom of the 5 and the 3 seems very similar. The car just doesnt feel as tall/wide.

The rear legroom in the two are very close. the difference is that the seat is longer in the 5.
I have my M3 ordered, sedan of course.
I got rid of my 335 in order to get a 550, because I wanted the v8 and a little bit more comfort and room.....but I jsut cant pass up the M3 for the same price as the 550.
either one the way I speced them are right at 72k, however I would have gotten a discount on the 5, but oh well, that M3 is a M and it is great. cant wait for it.

I'm already wrestling with the idea in my head when my E60 lease runs in Feb. 2010.

How can you not love the lines of the hardtop convertible, even with roof up?

I know I'm hooked already...and my kids are so seldom in my car, and even then, just locally, so the back seats, although not idea, would be workable...
