With the age of my kids and their car seats I need the extra space of the E60 or else I would have waited for the M3 Sedan. It is hard to tell what the marketplace will offer in 3 years but the M3 Sedan is my anticipated choice. That is a lot of performance and practicality for the dollar.

Ya! thats really good pricing! much cheaper than I thought I thought it would totally be like 64K or something closer to the RS4 pricing. Man who would get the RS4 if the M3 sedan is like $12K cheaper and better!

Personally I think the M3 sedan will be a bit small to fit the kids in the back.

I originally considered the 550 but with the twin turbo motor coming I decided to get a 535 instead. I think the next car I get will be the new 5 series due out in 2010 with the twin turbo V8. Add some chip tuning and it should be able to out accelerate the m3 easily

I'm in the same boat...would love to get the next 7er (specially if it has 400+hp twin turbo V8)

Wow, that is very surprising. Great job BMW, they even undercut the IS-F by about $2k. No one is going to get the IS-F now. I bet a lot of people pass on the 550i for $4k more and get the sedan M3.

Ya. Totally unexpected to me... say bye bye RS4... ISF... C63... etc etc... BMW is king still!

But I doubt those who need the size of a 550 will get a M3 sedan... there will be a few... but not much.

Yes, the new M3 is tempting at that price ... but I'm going to wait until the M DCT comes out and then take a look.

One choice some may now consider is whether to buy a new M3 or a used M5.

same thought i had.. either way u look at it 5>3 id go for used 5. although it would be tempting to drive a branddddd new model not yet soo comon on the street as the e60.
