Off topic: New 3er looks great!
#1
First off sorry to those folks that thought the new 3er was toned down. Not so. It has more flamed surface, hard edges and looks great. It also has the big rear deck. It looks great to me. Just like my 5er. I think it is closer to the 1er in looks. More sporty than the 5er. The interior is great, more flowing surfaces on the side doors, room is great. Looks much better than its competitor A4. I like the wave dashboard and it appears the same as in the 5er. I drive or not the dash looks good and no temp guage. The show room floor had been cleared just for the 3er and was filled with them. So imo the car just flat out beats the looks of the competition inside and out. I am partial to the new looks. Thats why I bought my 545. Keep it BMW. Just cant wait to hear the critics review of the new 3er. Already they have started talking about how they like the 3er better than the 5er when it is very similar to the 5er in every way. BMW has made a great car again. Good job BMW. Now for a test drive.

I have been on the presentation today.
My impressions:
The car looks MUCH better in person than on the pictures.
Exterior. In particular I liked very much the front and the rear bumpers, whole back and trunk part. That is even better than the E60's as they have more massive forms and nice line flows. I did not like the kidneys (too agressive) and the back light configuration (weird).
Interior. Not a bad quality. In particular doors are better than the E60's. Fine leather (for ex. very nice but difficult to maintain Lemon colour), but nasty wood trim choice.
Just my 2 cents.

I too saw the new E90 presentation.
Was really impressed with the interior. It's a little less open than the E60, but seems to be more driver oriented. I didn't notice too much difference in shoulder room and I actually had more leg room, albeit at a slight penalty for rear occupants. The trunk is where i noticed the biggest loss of space, especially if you get the optional sliding tray.
Exterior looks good as well, however, I'd be interested in the Sport or Individual packages to spice it up some.
Overall I think it's

I have an invite to the 3 series unveiling this evening in Dublin between 19:30 and 21:30. I'll pop along to have a look. If I get any interesting snappies I'll post them on the forum.
I think the current crop of BMW's probably look better in the steel than they do in brochures. Anyway, if I'm smitten, might even buy one.
