I wouldn't get an M anything until BMW comes up with MB-like automatic to replace the SMG. Some love it, but, IMO, it is too quirky and is an anacrhronism.

Does anyone know the torque rating on the new M3 V8? I believe Znod made a good point recently that the M5's torque may make a 550i a better choice for around town driving. I also would not get an M3 until the new DSG-type transmission is available.
