My Ride: BMW 535d
Hey everybody!!!
I'm also a member of an M3 forum! (my other car than the 535d is an E46 M3).
There are big discussions about the specs on the new ///M3! Some say they know it and it will be a V8 4.4 with 450bhp!!! Other say it will be 420-425! I'm hoping he'll knock te RS4 out!
But I'm thinking, an ///M3 with 450 bph will be faster than the M5 I guess...
Anyone here any info about the specs???

Im pretty sure it will be faster than M5/M6 but not by that much. Very eager to see some real facts though. From the 350hp 335ci, im hoping they would up the HP on the m3 to 450. New M3 is going to be an animal

Everything I've read has said 400 hp in a V8. Since the M5 is 500 hp, it seems that 450 hp for the M3 would not be enough of a performance gap between the 2 models.
Also, it will initially only have a manual transmission, with BMW's dual clutch shortly after introduction (i.e., no SMG for M3).

It will have a v8 4 liter with somewhere 400-420bhp imo. The engine will be a derived from the v10 m5 engine. Think about it...cut 2 cyls away, some 1000cc, 100bhp tops, and around 100NM. You'll get the probable specs on the new m3. Agree that 450 bhp seems a bit too high.

450hp is always fun to dream though

But when you see the specs of the RS4... To beat this the M3 has to be as fast as an M5...!!! But M3 is more against an S4 perhaps!
The only thing I hope is when the ///M3 costs as much as the RS4 (which I doubt) he will be faster! The only reason I'll accept for being slower is that he's a lot cheaper...

IMO bmw will make it faster then the rs4 no matter what. I knew the audi rs4 does 0-100 in 4.8 seconds and the e60 m5 in 4.7 sooo the new m3 has to be either in the 4.7 or 4.8 range. It might even be in the 4.6 range if they struggle a bit. That way they can keep the tradition (e46 m3 vs e39 m5 being just 0.1 sec faster from 0-100).
And even if the worst could happen...wich i don't think it's probably, bmw has the CSL badge that can be used to shake any futile rezistance from the audi.

I think M3 will be the fastest BMW for that release year for the fact its simply lighter. Current E46 M3 is ALMOST as fast as E60 m5......
You really have to define almost since i think there is no competition in any way between the e46 m3 and the e60 m5.
