The X3 is due to get the new 163bhp 2.0 engine from the E90 in September and will be available with an auto box when that engine is fitted. If they fitted the twin turbo 3.0d to this car from the 535d/forthcoming 335d then it would make an interesting choice. They really need to sort out the quality of the interior though to at least the levels of the new E90. The X3 is not a cheap car and needs a much better quality interior to justify its price tag in the UK.
I saw an undisguised new Range Rover Sport model on the A47 east of Leicester yesterday and that car looks great. At a starting price of ?35k it just meets the top end of X3 territory but looks a whole lot better. BMW have got a tough fight on their hands if they think they can reposition the next generation X5 to a higher price level and let the X3 fight new cars such as this.
