In this "metric ton" of photos you can see that the new 2 Series convertible (set to be unveiled before the end of summer) has almost completely shed its camouflage. This cabriolet is said to borrow much of its technology and engine lineup from the European 1 Series hatchback.

Rumor has it that under the bonnet, the 2 Series cabriolet will only pack four-cylinder engines along with a turbo-diesel variant. The lineup appears to be 2.0-liter gasoline engines pushing 150, 177, or 218 horsepower, while the diesel will be a 2.0L as well, but outputting 214 horses.

The engines will all be coupled to either a six-speed manual, or an optional eight-speed automatic. Another option available on the 2 Series will be the famed xDrive system.
