My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
Li Jiwei is a well-known Beijing artist who I had the privilege of meeting during my recent stay in Beijing. He exhibited the work at a gallery called Loft 3 in the 798 art district.
He made a conscious decision not to paint the vehicle as all the other famous artists commissioned by BMW have done, such as David Hockney, Kiki Smith, etc.
Li's mission statement, which I have included here, translates roughly as follows:
The title is "Cloud". Li created the visual sensation of the natural phenomenon of clouds in combination with the abstract concept of mathematics. He turned the Z4 into an open space containing the red cloud-like soft material questioning the traditional concept of the Z4 simply as a vehicle. It is all about object and concept; reality and art.
Cloud shapes never repeat themselves and their movement follow a natural course and echo with the passing of time.
The Z4 will join the other "Art Cars" in the BMW museum in Munich. Enjoy the images.

sorry but its not hitting me this design
I think painting it is much better looking and will be more famous
also they can sell the art car for more in 20 years time.

Yea, well, it's art. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't....
The artist told me the Z4 is still drivable though, even in it's minimalist condition!
