I had a dream and unfortunately it last only two days. Everything started last Monday when my BMW dealer called asking if I want an X6M for a drive test for a couple of days. Of course I accepted enthusiastically and could not wait to come Wednesday when finally they gave me the beast. I must say its amazing. I drove many exotics or M cars but none gave me emotions like this one. The new engine is fantastic, soft, smooth much more than the 10 cylinder that, IMHO is too rude in giving power. This, thanks to the twin turbo system has a fantastic torque of more than 650 nm already from 1500 rpm and push the car from 0 to 100 in 4,7". Considering that the car weighs a bit more than 2,5 t it is simply fantastic. I was a bit afraid from the size of the car but it is very nice to drive and gives such ride comfort that I would have never imagined from an M SUW. It is not to stiff and would be the perfect car for long drives on bumpy Eastern European interstate roads where you need to overtake a lot of trucks and pull over quite fast right after. Besides the price more than 115.000 euro it has another defect: it is thirsty as hell. For less than 400 km it drunk abt. 80 liters of petrol, equal to 100 euro.
I am looking much forward to try this engine in the new F10 M5.

Here are some photos.

very interesting infos on the X6 M's engine and ride, thanks for sharing. Its a pretty new thing and I guess there are not many members here that have driven it. And obviously we can draw conclusions about the F10 M5!

But I also must say something else - its ugly as hell your E61 looks sooooo much better

I definitely agree. However, I hated it at first but the more I truly looked at it the more appealing it became. But thanks for the write up! Im jealous that you had this great opportunity

That'll be the day when a US dealer does something like that for a client. The closest thing to that I experienced was when I brought my M5 in for an oil change and waited for it. Out of nowhere, the head service tech (not a salesman, mind you) comes out and sees me reading a 1-series brochure and asks me, ''You look bored. Want to drive the new 335d for a bit?'' Hellz yeah!!

I don't even get that! Dealers in So Cal suck they don't like to let people go on test drives. Unless it's a salesman I know. At least that's what it seems.

+1. I had the chance to test drive it as well but just for half an hour. Sure is more comfortable, 5 seater, bigger boot etc. For the rest are completely the same.
