[quote name='bmwin14rsm' date='Sep 1 2004, 06:34 PM'] I am so jellous, everyone over the pond from me get the great diesels.? I hate the environmentalists here.? I wish I could have the option of the diesel.
The problem with me is that I live in California. The EPA here puts such high restrictions on emissions, diesels are extremely rare. Only VW and Mercedes have sedan diesels for sale here.

Actually, I don't think that the new Merc diesel is available for sale in CA, and the other 4 states that follow the CARB regulations, along with many other diesel models. Maybe when the low sulfur fuel comes in 2007, they will be able to provide the after treatment to meet the very stringent NOX emissions, which CARB has set really low limits on, and if very difficult for the diesels to meet to my understanding.
Wish I could have the 535d , it would go well with my Turbo Diesel Dodge Ram. They actually sell less powerful versions of the my truck, don't know if they still do, in the 5 states that follow the CARB regulations to meet the requirements. My Truck(7,700 pounds of it) will get 18 mpg easily, if I had a gas engine, it would be about 13. Not to mention it tows like a Beast .
Welcome Alex, as for the 8, well
