+1, don't forget the maintenance costs. BMW vs. Range Rover (I mean ford )
I say RR only if you care what the neighbors think...

My dad has the RRS S/C I have the 4.8. They are very different, you should go and drive both. The range has a crappy interior and its smaller inside than the X5. But I think it looks better than the X and it also rides better (I have 20" on the X). Figures suggest that the 4.8 is faster but in real world they feel closer cause the supercharger gives the RRS more torque down low. The x5 handles better ( I have active steering and adaptive drive) and is more chuckable but the RRS is no slouch either, it also stays pretty flat around the corners. The RRS drinks a bit more but since it uses 95 octane as opposed to the BM's 98 its pretty much the same. They sound different I cant say which one I prefer, the X might be a bit louder at full boost. If the E70 4.8 sounded as good as the old 4.8is there would be no contest. They both have gremlins like little squeaks here and there. The feeling I get when I steam down the road in my dad's range cant quite be matched by the X5, it somehow doesn't go down the road with the same authority. Maybe because it is lower and feels more carlike.

My Ride: I have a 2007 Black Sapphire BMW 530i with SMG. It has the auburn interior, has PDC, Sports Package, Premium Package, rear automatic sunshades with manual side sunshades, 35% black tint, Upgraded angeleyes from Angelibrights, and Logic 7 Sound System
Model Year: 2007
The range has a shitty interior and mine is always in the shop for minor problems that I don't think should happen with this price range vehicle.

Strange to see some of you think the Range Rover Sport interior is no good.
I think its the opposite, BMW interiors are some the worst interiors in the luxury market, a lot of plastic.

Ive had the 4.8 since Jan and im already tired of it. A great SAV, much more refined than the RR Sport. Im just not an SAV guy I guess, I dont know. I guess you could ask me stuff about it if you wanted to know some more..
