I read somewhere on this forum that a member has put 285s on the rear of his e60 using 10mm spacers with no problems. I think I will at least ask my wheel dealer to let me see what it looks like.

yep, must admit the rear of the E90 is not exactly perfect. It just does nto fit the car, it looks like borrowed from another car. It is like poke in the eye. And the rear light..........bad bad

You have to get used to it. Remember all the Bangle designs shocked the world when they "revolutionised" the bmw looks. Now i love the 5 series, i just love it when at first i was so messed up almost hating it. I love also the z4 and the 7 series and even the 1 series or x3. The 3 series needs some time....u;ll see....in fact the time needed to acomodate will be seen in the selling charts. For sure when the people got friendlier with the new design of the 3 series...the coupe would have been launched...and than the m3 e90. When that will happen almost all will consider the e46 a bit old and accept the e90.
its just my humble opinon, but i must disagree on this point...its butt ugly and will always be butt ugly. its not a getting used to point...and it will not surpass the E46 in this manner, the e46 is destined to be a classic, perhaps one of the best designs EVER put out by BMW....as soon as I had seen it in '99, i immediately said to myself, I want it, and i did get one and was a very happy owner for 5 1/2 years, it trully is a beautiful car....i for one cannot and will not accept this car they call the e90 that looks like a mix of old and uninspiring cars all mashed together...i wanted to like it, hell, before i saw it i said i was going to stay a 3er owner, but seeing it was a shock to say the least, its ugly from every possible angle and in every possible way..i stared at if for hours at the autoshow in disbelief. a car like the 3er shouldnt have to 'grow' on you...it should stand out and command appreciation, even after 5 years i still always looked back at my e46 after i left it because it was beautiful....the e90 will never be like this no matter how much time passes...yes the e46 will look 'old' as time passes, but just like the 2002, you look at it today and you say, id still own one and its a classic car, the e90 will never be destined for anything but a face lift and will just be a bmw to own to say you have a bmw....sorry, jmho
