Get nice and comfy before settling in to read this great document! (The first nine pages talk about the BMW Miramas Test Center which is also interesting...)

The freaking car (F01) even reads road signs!!

F01_7_Series_Days_Miramas.pdf

We can only assume that some (if not most) of this technology will trickle down to the F10...

(If anyone wants me to post a higher-res version of any of the embedded photographs, reply here and I'll see what I can do.)

What's funny is that after using my active cruise control (with stop and go) for some time now, I've often wished the car could read road signs and/or traffic signals. There are times when you're in traffic (and stop and go is actively managing it) and all of a sudden the traffic light changes to red and you need to stop but the car in front of you "made it" through the light before it changed.

If the car was able to see the red light, it could keep the car stopped. The same goes for stop signs, etc.

I realize that this is probably a silly "wish" but I have to believe it's coming sooner or later, like it or not...

Absolutely and it's awesome.

It was part of that monster review I did about a year ago...

page 64 top picture.

pointless system as the driver shouldn't be in the middle without anyone in front of him and two on each side trying to get past his slow boat anyway.

he needs a 'keep in the slow lane warning' driver assistant.

I hope not. Aside from the fact that it's one step away from sitting in the back seat and saying "Once more around the park, Bitteman", I'd hate to be behind something that has a red light at the top of it and my car decides to come to a screeching halt.

???

Maybe he is in the center trying to get by slower vehicles on both sides.

from the big arrows, I deducted that he's the slow one in the middle.

Great find, Rudy. There's some awesome technology in this new F01.
