Considering a K1200R, but the problem is i only have ridden to 400cc bikes. What do you guys think? What's your opinion about this model? I'm new also to bmw motorad but i heared bmw bikes are awesome at least the engine gives a fantastic sound tune like ducati has it's own specific tune.
Any advices, opinions?

I absolutely love that bike but the 163 hp would get me into serious trouble. If you have the restraint until you get used to it, it seems like a great bike - I love the "naked" look.

A friend of mine has a Ducati and says BMWs are very reliable but still have somewhat of an "old man" image, old man being defined as 35+ years old.

Yup this would be the main reason not to take it. And besides i also have some iron in me from my last car wreck accident so even a minor fall would spell disaster for me.
But my diesel no longer manages to fulfill my adrenaline needs :D Sometimes i'm still well impressed by it but that's when i drive alot not getting the chance to open it up. I really need more power and MORE SOUND
Not even the Z4 M coupe didn't convice me. I will probably have to wait for the new M3 but even then i'll have second thoughts because i won't like to buy a model less than 1yr old (issues).

yep.. reliability of first year ///m cars is problematic. But if you drive it really hard, and manage to do about 20000-25000km a year, i think that all problems would be solved during the warranty period...

otherwise you are depressing me :'( , i was really looking into bying a 335d... now i might have to look elsewhere

Never thought i would see vice-versa.
Anyway...really mate the 3 liter tt diesel isn't a slouch, even more just think that the new coupe will be lighter that the E60 diesel king we are used to and it will be a different thing because of the uprated engine but more importantly because of the improved steptronic. Sedan or coupe it will be lighter than the 5er. I mean hell i simply get blown away if i come to think that with a remap and a top speed limiter removal this oil burner can top around 270km/h. In a diesel?! :wow:

BUT!!!

you will miss like i do the petrol tune especially from the M engines. You will miss the instant response, since even in this sequential TT setup there is still a little lag present. As you said logic dictates your brain or not?!

No, but really now, my move will be to the m3 in the future simply because of 2 main reasons: 1. E60 is too big for me (like i'm not using the cargo/space at it's capacity only very very rarely like a few times per year) 2. I do quite few miles per year so fuel coneumption has a small impact on me (20-25000 km/year) although i do it mainly in city traffic...

PS: Ok 3 reasons: there is nothing like owning an M. :D

be a handful at times. And i bet youll be inviting your SA to dinner, in less than 3 months of buying the car

  Hey at least i don't have to worry about that. 2008 is far away and i have to do smth to keep my power needs and monotony satisfied. I'll go into modding my car a bit and then with the next trip to Germany i'll go ecu remapin'. Probably the effect will wear off in 1-2 months  :help:

I'm not a die hard ats for high speeds. I like more the twists and challanging corners.
