My Ride: 2007 550i..... ex
Default

So one of the perks of being a CA at a BMW dealership allowed me to go and test drive most of the available models out there. This special 2 day training called The BMW Experience involved intense classroom lectures talking about the history, racing division, comparisions, activities and basically what BMW is all about. The second day we went over to a very large ship yard and had a chance to push the cars on autocross setup. Of course we didn't get to drive any of the ///M vehicles but we did get to drive a few exclusive ones such as the euro 535d which I thought was a very badass vehicle. Still has the inline-6 but with 2 different sized turbo chargers, 268hp and a beastly 427ft lbs. of torque which was available at 2k rpms! This car will beat a 550i from 0-110mph by 2 car lengths as well. The Hydrogen7 was on display as was the highly anticipated 135i coupe which will be available for sale here in Spring 08. The 135i coupe will come standard with ///M bumper, sides, rear bumper and wheels. We also got to test track a 750i/760Li/650ci/650cic all back to back and they all handled well. Also present was an E46 ///M3 GTR and an ALMs BMW race car driven by JJ Lehto.

I took a ton of pics which I'll try to post up when I get back home tonight.

Sounds great....

Did they share any information on when the X5 diesel will be available in the US, and whether it will be the 3.0d (single turbo) or 3.0sd (twin turbo)? I know the 3.0d is available in Europe already and the 3.0sd should be out in the fall. We are going to be replacing my wife's X5 with an E70 and would love to get into a diesel, but we probably can't wait another year or more. Unfortunately all the info I've heard so far indicates that they would come out at the end of 2008 as a 2009 model, but we may not be able to wait that long.

760i on track ?

A year ago the dealer allowed me to do a track course for free, "BMW MotorSport Academy", with 130, 330d, Mini CooperS, M5, M6 and something else .. 3-4 laps with every car, in the afternoon . In the morning many exercises on dry and wet .
Cost : Eur 0, fun : 100

We wait for pics!
