My Ride: 2006 530xi. alpine white, black leather, 6 speed. mtech kit.
was getting an oil change at the dealership and dealer was trying to convince me to trade in my car for a 07 335i.
the car is a beast and has exceptional handling. i have a 530xi right now and i dont need to tell anyone how much power it lacks. the e60 is a lot sweeter on the interior and exterior but the 335 was so responsive and fun.
is the 535 similar or a lot heavier the the 335? would you do the trade?
the 335i had limited options and my 530 has all the options and some. thinking about it a lot. wat do you guys think?

Well...having driven an '08 335i for a couple weeks and then comparing it to the 535i in the garage right now, there's no question that I'd stay with the 535. Yes, the 535 feels heavier and less "tossable" (is tossable a word?), but that's not what I'm looking for in this car at this point in my life. YMMV. Both good cars, but different personalities

Now I have driven both 535 and 335 as loaners when getting service and they both are truly rockets and if power is all you are looking for than you have your answer. Buy the 335; it's power is that addicting. BUT, If you have a solid well running 530xi like I do, and as you admit is very comfortable and a good looker, than I think you ought to stay with the 530xi as the well rounded choice. Plus I am sure you'll have to lay out a lot more $$$ for a faster but less equipped car than your current 530xi. Sounds like a trade DOWN to me. (I'll save the money towards the better engine option next time when I trade my 530xi in for an F10 in a few years)

thanks all. i really dont like the looks of the 335 anyway. its a lot more fun but id sacrifice a lot for pure acceleration. it really is addictive though.

very good points mentioned above...it's basically what you want out of the car? power, room, looks..etc..etc..I have driven an 08' 335 cpe, and it goes, the paddles are fun to play around, and it sounds nice, but i feel my 545 a stronger machine - feel like it has more power and more grounded; maybe the 335 is quicker from a stop, but i like the way my car rides. Maybe you could look into a CPO 05' 545 with low miles.....
good luck...
good luck...
+1 on the 545! all the power, performance and luxury one could need and actually (someone correct me if I am wrong) but the 0-60 times between the 335Xi and 545i are so very close its probably negilable (spelling), and I believe the 545 is actually a couple hundred pounds lighter. Which even thought is a bigger car in size, should be just as nimble if youre willing to through it around some.

premium package/active steering/auto sunshade/tiag/black dakota leather/logic 7
35% tint all around
19' DPE GT7
comparing a 5 to a 3 is tough, the 3 is definitely more "fun" in terms of driving, but the 5 has a lot more ammenities that the 3 doesn't which makes the 5 more luxury. I think it all depends on what a person wants more "fun" or luxury. In terms of "fun" and "tossability" you should try the 135 next time you are in that thing hauls ass and you can toss it around corners like nothing.

Got one of these as a loaner two weeks ago, amazing car... fast, responsive, etc.
The paddles were cool but I think I would get tired of them after a while. Logic 7 sounded wonderful
Completely different cars but really fun to drive for a few days
