I noticed a brand-new 325d on the road the other day - didn't realise BMW had released them... 197bhp/400Nm/3 litre... About half-way between 320d and 330d in terms of cost... Probably the pick of the range?

Not really. The 320d is the most suitable one imo.
It is plenty for the car and the thing will never be more exiting with a 6-cylinder diesel in it. Not worth the money. It's a salesrep's car. Me thinks 4 cylinder in the Three, 6 in the five and 8 in the Seven. |

The 320d will probably get the best residuals but in overall terms the 325d is probably the best compromise... 1 second quicker to 62mph with very little consumption impact... In fact the manual 325d beats an auto 320d... (Did I mention 6 cylinders?)
The 320d is great, but the 325d greater... Also makes it a little more beastly, especially with the M-Sport pack  |
