The tings that I love about the 1er are........

Great size, it is nice and chuckable, the 3 series is still a fairly big car and doesn't feel a great deal more chuckable than the 5 series, but the 1er is, it has superb handling and doesn't feel hardly any smaller inside, well it does but not in a cramped way, it feels more compact but like everything is just there and within reach.

The steering, the feedback from the steering is superb, when you get back in teh 5 after driving the 1er it feels a little numb, I am not talking Audi numb, but it does feel a little detached, not sure what the differences in teh set ups are but the 1er feels spot on.

The interior, the materials used on the 1er are of a higher grade than those used on the 5er, the dash feels better, the armrests are leather covered and it feels of a much higher quality.

The seats, they are superb!!! The sport seats in the 1er are the best regular seats I have ever had the pleasure to be in, the amount of adjustment and the way they hold you are absolutely spot on.

All in all a great car, if feels like BMWs of old, but brough bang up to date and have to say it is one of the best BMWs in a long time.

Well I have to say after buying my wife a 120d m-sport I sold the 535d, it really is that good.

At first I thought the 1 series was overpriced, but after having the 120d and the 535d I realised it was the bargin of the century.
Superb car and I can't wait for the 135i to arrive.
Have you try the mini?
It is 100% better

Yeah, we sold the mini for the 120d, and totally disagree, the mini is great if you have tits or cut hair for a living, but it wasn't for me!!

haha! To each their own I suppose we have a mini cooper S in our parking stall - I think that the look of it is FAR superior over the 1-series (I think the market will demonstrate this too)...even if it drives like a BMW I think its kind like a moped or an ugly women - fun to drive/ride, but you dont want your friends to see you!!

I was kidding, the Mini is a great car to drive, but it isn't a practical car at all, can't get much shopping in it, can't take it on a week away etc. etc.
The one series does everything the 5 does, and quite a few things better, the only area the 5 beats it is rear space, and image, driving the 535d probably gave the impression I was doing alright for myself more than driving a 120d does, and I know that is important to alot of people, but for me how the car feels and how much it makes me smile is the only thing I car about.

Also the one series has a design I think you either love or loathe, personally I think it is the best looking car in the BMW range at the moment, I adore its looks, it makes all the other hatches look very boring in comparison.
