Anyone have an an opinion on the 2007 Z4 3.0si,
I almost got one last night and for some reason got cold feet at in the end.... The car I was going to get was
Monaco Blue Metallic
Beige Leather Interior
18x8.0 bolted star spoke wheels
Sport Package
Premium Package
Premium Sound
$49,500
Has anyone owned a Z4 si before and what do you think? How is the Z4?

I think the Z4 is OK but everything I have seen/read indicates that the Boxter is a much better driver's car - personally, I would get a lightly used, new style Boxster S for your $50K.

I would go for an 335i instead.. My friend has a 2,5 Z4 and he is about to sell it... the ride is to hard for everyday use... though the car looks amazing... one of the best looking cars from BMW ever...

For the money, I'd get Z4 Coupe, unless you prefer a convertible. Coupe has a more rigid chassis, less flex, amazing ride. Z4 Roadster is great car, coupe is so much better!

I have driven it for two or three days now, and WOW what a ride. I could not drive this as an every day car but I it's a great fun car.
It is a tight ride and handles well. I think the only thing I need is the Wind Screen.

It seems to me that BMW is great at sport sedans while Porsche has found the secret recipe for sports cars.

Did you test drive the 335i Coupe?
I never drove a Z4 because I need 4 seats, but in the latest EVO magazine Car of the Year 2006 test, the 335i Coupe came joint 4th, beating the Z4 3.0si Coupe into joint sixth place. They said "the Z4 is a proper sports car with a lovely engine [ ... ] but the 335 has the better chassis and better steering [...] and then there's that engine".
So similar price, better chassis, steering, engine and much more practical ... the E92 has got to be worth a look.
Of course I am slightly biased, I just bought one ;-)
