I am thinking about getting the '07 BMW X5 (V8) for my wife, I was told that it won't make to the dealers floor until Thanksgiving Day. Any thoughts on the new SAV would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I think there are a number of interior upgrades, and isn't the new version of iDrive with the additional buttons supposed to debut in the new X5?

Hey freed0m! i'm thinking of doing the same too for my sister. As far as i know, you are able to order it now and get the car earliest by end of november. I've been doing some shopping around and the best price i got was $2000 off MSRP.

Gd luck!

Wow, which dealer did you get $2K of MSRP? Perhaps you can refer me to them?

There doesn't seem to be additional iDrive buttons judging by the picture. I read somewhere that the transmission knob (joystick) is going to be utilized (in some form) in the next 7 series.

There are programmable iDrive buttons. They are not next to the controller but are on the dash below the radio controls. This iDrive system is also going to be in the new 3 series convertible.

The buttons are located here. I had a close up shot but I can't find it. This is not a close up but it will show you where those programable buttons are located.

The new shifter is clumsy. You have to shift into R then N and then D. That's 3 clicks. With the existing shifter, one swoop and your in D.

The current 7er has the shifter on the column, and is also mechanically backward but technologically advance. :'(
