While at my BMW Service Center yesterday, I checked out a 135. Great small car, except it was over priced at $40,000. For that amount of money one is so much further ahead to get a 3 er. Plus I cannot imagine the 135 will hold its resale value like a 3 er. I am skeptical that the 1 Series will succeed in the marketplace.

On a % basis the 335 Coupe is still a 25% premium over the 135 Coupe. The extra $10,000 will be a big incentive for the 1. I'm betting the 1 gets a pretty significant chunk of the 3 market ................... It will be interesting to watch.

That's right, but those Japanese tests are a bit of a joke. Doesn't matter what's on test, it could be a Veyron and and a Ferrari F1 car, but somehow Best Motoring will always find a way to show that the Honda/Acura NSX is quicker!

If you think that is bad , Ask about a lease on a 135i... we are talking about 550i / well equiped m3 terratory on monthly payments and down payment...No joke...

BMW is expecting them to depricate like a rock.

What a choice. I'd go for the 135 assuming its a coupe with the m-sport kit. $40,000 in uk terms is a bargain... that same car (I would like one as they look like tremendous fun) would cost in excess of ?35,000 (70,000USD!!!!)

I'd consider it a bargain...

personally I'd go for the M3 Sedan.. what a beast!

Maybe it's because they're very used to the NSX because it's now 17 years old and every driver now knows how to drive it by the book. Also there was a race a few years ago, among others with a Lambo Murcielago and a NSX-R, driven by Gan-san. I bet they barely have a couple of hours to get used to the cars, in order to extract 100% of them before each race.

On one video they were comparing the (then new) E46 M3 with the R34 GTR, NSX Type S and an RX7, and they made a "drifting test" on the Tsukuba track, by Keiichi Tsuchiya. Surprisingly, on the screen appeared "Due to the tight time schedule, all cars were allowed one drift lap on the track"

So maybe these would be the reasons why the Japanese cars are almost always winning the Best Motoring races

If the residuals are so bad, then that just means we need to wait a couple years for the prices to fall, and we will be able to pick them up cheap!
