My Ride: BMW 520i, March 2004, Silver Grey, 68000 Miles, PDC, DIY iPod Setup with remote control, GLOVE BOX TORCH- YES!
It might only be a 520i, but you've got to start somewhere! It's my first decent ride, and I'm still only 22. And unlike some this ain't Daddy's - it's all mine!
Hello all,
I've been floating around for a month or two and getting a few posts in. Now that the better weather has rolled in here in the UK, I've taken a few photos and figure its time to introduce myself and my car.
I'm Dave, I'm 22, and I live in Greenock, near Glasgow, Scotland. I graduated last year from university doing Product Design Engineering and got a decent job soon after. Saved up for a while, and decided it was time to finally get myself a decent set of wheels. While studying I had worked in Halfords (car and bicycle parts store for those not from the UK) and became pretty obsessed with cars, and took really good care of my first car ever: Roast Beef- a 1999 Honda Civic 5 Door 1.5v-tec. I loved Roast Beef - gave me no problems whatsoever. But I needed something with alot more presence.
I looked into Seat Leon Cupra Rs, a few Golf GTIs, a new Golf GT, E46 320Cds, but in the end, when a Silver Grey 04 520i turned up at a dealer just down the road from me, I was sold. I loved the idea of driving a big, smooth, comfy bastard every day, rather than just a pocket rocket hatch back that would challenge my license-holding abilities. I had been holding out for a diesel, and I had wanted leather, but after a few weekends of taking the 520i out for a drive, I became impatient and starting haggling. Long story short, I picked up my new car, Rufus P. Jivefunk, for a DAMN good price.
It's a basic spec manual SE, with no nav or CD changer (but I own 2 Satnav systems and was only interested in using my Ipod in the car) and sans-leather, but has very tasteful black cloth, with pretty nasty 17" wheels. So by no means a range topping beast, but you've got to start somewhere (and here in the UK, a 2.2 engine is pretty massive in a land full of 1.4s and 1.6s) so its big and spritely enough for me.
I absolutley love it.
Enough about me, here's Rufus as I got him:
Midnight Creepin':
Then I invested in some 18" wheels, my favourite style:
And what an improvement. Waitin for further good weather to get some really nice pics with the wheels.
Oh I also got these 6- series style grills the other day:
And now I can't help but look into the M-Tech kit. The full kit is way out of the question, I just can't afford it at the moment, with moving into my own place soon approaching, and having to support my girlfriend through uni, but DAMN the front kit deal from Quad M is tempting. Sprint-Booster is also tempting, but I think it's best avoided around here - tough traffic, short streets, Sunday drivers, and blind junctions just dont seem to gel with the improved throttle.
So as it stands, my car is basically standard, and will stay that way. I'm not interested in internal mods, but I'm feeling like its only a matter of time before I go for that M-Tech front bumper
So I hope to be of some assistance to someone on here in the future, and thanks so far to everyone for being so helpful to me!
Love,
Dave!

Congrats on the car! The more you read...the more you will be tempted!
Better keep trying to convince yourself that mods won't happen...they will! Good Luck! IT
