Hey Guys, my names Rich and im 28 and from Bristol UK.

I thought i would give a quick intro to myself as i am now the proud owner of a 2008 520D M Sport

i found your website whilst browsin and seeing a thread for Eugene 134's sick headlight mod! that is good work!

So hopefully without boring you all,- im a salesmen and cover around 30K-40K miles a year, and after 4 years of a company car (of which i just paid tax on through the year) i was moved onto a car allowance and have to purchase, service, insure, tax etc etc my own vehicle.

I have a love also for VW's but have also wanted a 5 series for a while so set out looking for a 520D M Sport. It had to be the M Sport as prefered the spec and styling, and had to be a diesel for the cheap road tax and fuel economy. After looking at a few M5 replica's i decided i would be better looking for a true straight car which hadnt been tampered with.

In the end i found my car! its a 2008 520D M Sport, i wanted to hold out for the newer 177 engine, LCI lights etc, it has a few nice extra's such as the 19" 172 / spider wheels, Nature Brown full dakota leather interior, piano black dash trim, carbon black exterior paint , full bmw service history and just before i got it, it had a full service and disc and pads all the way round at BMW :-), one Managing Director owner from new. It had 84,000 miles on it when i got it and i paid £13,500 which looking at the market over here a few months back when i got it, i think was a good price.

Plans for it are:

Remap - spoke to a few companies who reckon they can take it from 177bhp - 225bhp and it return 20% better fuel economy , so around another 110 miles per tank what are people's views on remaps, will it damaged engine at all? or money well spent?

Then do a few tweaks to lighting, want to get rid of amber angels, and would love to change eyebrow lights but thats a job too far for me, couldn't bring myself to trying that level of DIY on me lights!

So this is my daily drive and my other summer car is my mk1 golf cabriolet, which i love and it only costs me £104 a year to ensure and £180 for 6 months tax or something like that :-)

So here is some pics of the BMW and Golf and ive popped some in of my civic daily before and other cars i have had, will have to post in 2 posts i think

Look forward to your comments good and bad and if there is a UK following who meet up please let me know

Thanks

Rich

Welcome along Rich, nice car, however lose the 'M' badge imo.

As for remap yeah go for it and release a few extra ponys and a good dollop of torque, I would highly recommend Simon @ Emaps.

Im gona put the 520d badge back on i think as still a good choice in motor :-)
