Hi, Just moving across from the X5 forums as I've just sold my 3.0i Sport X5 and I'm on the look out for a 525/530d ...
Any tips on what to look for when buying ? Also, I'll probably end up with one with 40-60k on the clock, do the E60 range have
chain driven cam shaft or will I have to stump up silly money  to get a cam belt change around 80k
Cheers !

I can't help you with the cam belt question I'm afraid - I've never had a car long enough to get one changed. I would suggest that you check-out the software version that you'll be running - that seems to be a key feature of having a happy relationship with a 5!

What price range are you in and, given that you had an X5 Sport are you looking for a 5 Series Sport model? I've got a 530d Sport Touring which I bought in January with about 38K on the clock which cost me around ?28K. My car was pretty well equipped (see below) so I'm quite pleased. I came from a 330i MSport Convertible which I'd had from new and only had 18.5K on the clock when I p/ex'd it but I wouldn't say that my used 5 Series seems old or worn out by comparison.

Cheers for the tip on the software version, I'll dig around the forum and see how to get it (Can't be too dissimilar to the X5) and then see what tweaks
can be done

I've managed to find a nice 530d SE (Black with Black Dakota) which seems quite well spec'd out already ... should be picking it up this weekend.

yes i too did that last year myself, i bought the e60 In silver traded it in for my X5, best decision of cars i made in my life mate, as the X5 as you may know consumes bucket loads of diesil, compared to the 530d, this is a blessing in disguise.
here take a look and be inspired by the E60,
Be sure to send us pics of your new E60, When you have it.
Cheers

Just picked it up this afternoon ... I'm well happy with it
Can't believe the pulling power of the diesel ! (This is my first diesel)
![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
congrats and welcome on board.
Please to hear you're enjoying that pulling power -- and with it being a used car, you don't have to worry about the drive in period

Post up some pics and specs details... thanks!
