Just wanted to say "Hi to all" I've been lurking on the board for the last month or so and after much consternation I made the hardest "car" decision I have ever made - I sold my 01 E39 M5 - 4 years - 39,113 miles amazing miles 
Why? I want the E60 M5 and figured that this was the optimum time to realize the value of an 01 E39 M5.
So what to do, until that happens? By my estimation for the next 24 to 36 months, so this is what I decided:
545i/6
Black Shapphire
Black
Sport
NAV
HUD
Satellite Radio
Logic 7
Electric Rear Shade
Cold Weather
Born on Date: - Nov 2, 2004
Arrival Date: ???
Immediate Mods: Breyton Spirit 19x8.5 & 19x9.5's
I am sure that I'll miss the M5 "grunt" but I am looking forward to the Logic 7, iDrive (no flaming please), HUD, Satellite radio and all the other goodies that the "old girl" did not have....
At some point you have to say "what the F**k, and just do it!"
I look forward to enjoying this board.......

I'll be very interested in your opinion as to how the E60 545 compares to the E39 M5. There may not be as much raw power but I think you'll be amazed at the impovements in handling, etc.

My Ride: E60 530d Sport - Carbon Black, Black Dakota Leather, Media Pack (satnav, bluetooth, CD changer), heated font seats, through load
Welcome, from another about-to-get E60 owner.
The question is, how will you get on with SMG. Maybe you should test drive a 545i with SMG, and think "M5 - more power and 7 gears, will I like it".
SMG isn't everyone's liking, but maybe by the time it launches in the US there will be a 6 speed.
