Hello all,
Today, I just had my 1000 miles on my 530i. It was very nice to know this site and know many many many stuff about 530i.
I have one question. My mechnic told me all new cars need to change first oil change at 1500miles. But My dealer, service director told me, all 530i do not require oil service until it reachs 12000 miles. is that true? My friend has 330i and he told me his dealer told him to bring his car at 1500miles for first oil change. I don't know who to believe. thanks in advance.

Mileage of my car is 8200 and idrive stated that the oil level is low right now. I brought it to my dealer and they said my car has problems in software. They told me to come back when it reaches 15000. I was so damn ****ing angry with them. My engine may explode sooner or later! Just made an appointment with another dealer and hope it goes well.

Below is email from service director.

Congratulations on your new vehicle purchase, and thank you for choosing BMW
of Fairfax.

The fact is that only the M3 requires a running in inspection at 1200 miles.
Your vehicles electronic system monitors fuel consumption and calculates
service interval based on gallons used.
The harder you drive the more fuel is burned; the sooner your vehicle will
require servicing.
Usually the cars are coming in around 12 to 15,000 miles.

In the event that this will be a low usage vehicle a yearly service can be
performed.

The service schedule is oil service> inspection 1 service> oil service>
inspection 2> oil service
Brake fluid change every 2 years, coolant every 4.

Thanks,
Mike Sanderhoff
Service Director

welcome aboard, uukahn ! i asked the oil change question to my dealer and they told me only m cars need to do a oil change in the first 1,200 miles. but i know we have a lot of members changed the oil way before the 10-12k miles mark. it's kind of like a peace of mind .

welcome and hello!

Do youself a favor and never bring your new baby to a mechanic, they do not know anything about the way new BMW's are supposed to be serviced or maintained...

There is no reason to change your oil more than once a year now, or approx 12-15K miles...I have friends at the dealer and they laugh about this all the time...there is no need to change with the synthetic oil

good luck :winkcool:

over here you have to pay ?1000 approx to get 5 years (or 60000 miles) servicing as i understand this you do however have your normal 3 yr warranty
but this does not cover normal servicing

actually, in the US, we have 4year/50K miles bumper to bumper which includes ALL service, including oil and breaks and wipers, etc, etc, etc....
