5Series.net - Forums - New E61 owner, BMW nut

Hello All,

Just picked up at 2008 E61 535xi wagon a few weeks ago and am loving it so far. I'm a long time and active lurker on many BMW Forums (mainly M3Forum), but am glad to find an active forum filled with 5 series specific enthusiasts!

My previous daily driver was an 2001 e53 X5 3.0, but I had been wanting a wagon. I'd originally been looking for an e91 Msport, but when a low mileage e61 example showed up locally, I jumped on it. It only had 56k miles and was LOADED. It has Active Cruise, Night Vision, HUD, Comfort Access, Rear heated seats, shadowline, Premium Sound etc. (Pretty much every option i'd want minus cooled seats).

Some of my previous BMW's include e36 m3, e30 325ix, e46 330xi, e30 325i, e92 328xi, e53 X5. Current Stable is the E61 DD and a e46 M3 IB ZCP 6spd.

Maintenance and Plans for the E61:

Fix Adaptive Cruise Control (Sensor Malfunction due to misalignment, need to figure out how to calibrate it, i've read numerous threads but if anyone has advice please chime in!)
New tires (Current tires are stretched a bit too much for my liking, and wheels are 18X9 I believe)
Rear brake pads light just came on
Driver side hood latch stuck (ugh)

Future Mods

Possibly retrofit newer Nav unit (need to do more research not sure what all is involved)
Would love a tune, nothing crazy but just a little more boost and make more turbo sounds (first turbo car :) )
Alpina Transmission Tune/Mapping -- Is it worth it? The stock "feel" is too conservative, would love it to come alive a bit more.
Springs/Struts for slight drop.
Something to dress up the front end a bit, make it look more aggressive.
Black Kidney Grilles to match shadowline trim.

Few questions I had:

Just noticed that there is a dynamic "redline" to move as the car warms up (like on the m3), I haven't noticed it move yet and i've read that it is disabled on e90's, but does this work on the e60? Is it possible to code this to turn it on and adjust parameters?
Driver side front door comfort access signal seems weak compared to other spots, is there a way to improve this?
How to get Full Screen Navi back, I swear it was on at one point, but now the side box is enabled and will not go back to full screen mode. I've read different things to where once you enable the side screen you can't get it back? seems odd.
