My Ride: 2008 535i 6MT
Thanks to all the great info and people on this forum for input on the E60. Should have the car in a month or so.
I have had a 3-series for the last six years: three in a E46 and three in a E90, both 330i's.
How I got here:
Decided to explore driving something else. Initial choices were a 135i, 550i, or E90 M3.
The M3 would have been my first choice but with the gas guzzler tax, pricing, option bundling, and the hideous bump in the hood (IMHO), I decided to pass.
Next up was the 135i until I priced it. Came out to the low 40's and a better equipped, roomier, 335i was just a few thousand more ... but I'd rather just keep my E90 330i vs the 335i.
At the Komen event in these parts last summer I had a lot of seat time in a 550i SP and I really liked it. The LCI changes won me over. However, the 19 in wheels were not my preference for the potholed roads around here. Plus with the V8TT on the way, I'd regret not waiting for the F10.
... which led to the 535i as a choice. It was close to the 550i in performance, same comfy seats, and 8K cheaper. I am not a fan of turbo motors in a gasoline engine. I believe there is no replacement for displacement. I compromised. Since BMW is going to the I6TT and V8TT for most U.S. models, I'd rather switch than fight with no other choice. I-drive is my other pet peeve, but with the addition of the programmable buttons, I'm a whole lot happier. The deal I got on the 535i was too good to pass up. Options are in the sig.
