Hello,
I'm new to the BMW area... and looking to make a few upgrades without tearing up my car. Unfortunately she doesn't have Navi, Satellite radio, ipod connection or Bluetooth and I'm looking for some healthy alternatives. She does have the L7 sound system. I don't understand the phone hookup... is that a proprietary function for BMW only?
I tried the BMW assist and they told me that I need to contact the dealer to get it turned on. I'm not certain that I need all that.
Thanks,
D

Welcome buddy, congrats with the ownership of the 545i. The nav in these cars are pretty useless these days, as everyone has a smartphone and google maps/nav will serve you much better. Sat radio? subjective to one's opinion, as you can stream a lot of music with your phone. Bluetooth is pretty helpful, but you can get a lot of handsfree kit now these days to serve the purpose.
Once again, welcome to the forum, just surf around use the search feature or post your questions if you're unsure.

Hey Thanks for the feedback. As much as I wanted to keep the look OEM, I was thinking that I would probably have to go aftermarket. I just didn't want to have all the cords handing out all over the place and additional antenna if I didn't need it.
Thanks,
D
