Well in my haste to ask a question about my 550 I didn't notice the welcome message encouraging me to introduce myself to the forum.

In the interest of being affable and friendly, I thought I'd acquiesce.

I'm a musician, mostly. On the faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston. But I live in Baltimore and commute up every week. I've traveled a whole lot all over the world playing with various jazz musicians and all of that, which has exposed me to a lot of stuff..cars not withstanding.

I've owned one BMW or another since about 2001. Never new. 92 525, 89 750, 94 540, 99 540iT, 00 740i sport, 08 550i, 07 335i, 09 135i, 06 M5. In that order, roughly. I've done lots of pretty big repairs, from V8 timing chain guides to total suspension rebuilds, yada yada.

Currently I have the 550i, the 135i, and the M5. I love the M5 and always wanted one...it's absolutely cherry, but I've already learned the virtues of the sport automatic over the M5's SMG trans.

Well crap...sorry to mislead, but by "cherry" I meant, in unbelievably great condition. But it's silver.

Thanks for the clarification...and the pics! If I recall correctly, the E60 M5's came in "Indy Red".

 

I call all the reds BMW has produced, "Court Reporter Red" after all the tickets I feel like I'd get driving a red BMW around! lol
