Hey everybody. My name's Marc and I just got in here after picking up an '06 530i (premium, sport, xenon lights) a couple weeks ago. Already got a hold of Garry from BMW Newport for an iPod kit and some all-weather floor mats. Much cheaper (even with shipping) than the dealers here in San Diego.
After trolling the forums for a week I already have a list of what I'm looking to do to the car.
- OEM iPod kit (on order)
- M-tech bumbers & side skirts
- M5 or M6 wheels
- LCI tail lights
- Maybe an M5 steering wheel & shift knob...but that's a lot of money.
Don't want to degrade the ride quality much, so not looking to do any suspension, but I'm worried I'll need to do something with the M5 wheels. Or will they fit right in and not give me a huge fender gap? Also not looking to change the exhaust because this is my quiet, cruising car, but maybe a beefier tip would be nice.
Reading through the threads it looks like there's a good group here. Only issue I have is searching. I think the site goes through all the sigs as well, so when I search for something I get a bunch of unrelated threads. So please be patient if I post a question that has probably been talked to death already.
Thanks- Marc

RE the 166's/M5 wheels....just need to get the right tire size and you won't have any issues
F 245/35
R 275/30
I have this set-up, pics in my gallery (stock sport suspension, no "huge fender gap" noted IMO)
RE the exhaust tips, ebay is a good place to find the size/style you want...swapping the tips out is pretty easy...

aboard Marc!
Personally I'd recommend the 166 with M6 offsets, that way you wont need spacers to "push" the wheels out for the aggressive look. Otherwise, with the M5 offset then you'll need 12mm spacers for the rear.
As far as the gap goes, I think you'll be fine since you already have the sports pkg. Whichever wheel you decide to choose will fit just fine. Enjoy your stay and your bimmer.

Thanks guys. Sounds like M5 wheels with M6 offsets (I finally figured out what that's all about) and the right tires is the way to go.
Any fellow SoCal'ers know a good dealer in the area to get OEM parts? I've decided I want to get OEM wheels and body kit, but don't want to pay through the a$$. The prices at BMW Newport were great, but shipping on the large items from the east coast would kill the deal.
