My Ride: 05 545i & 01 316i
Default Hey All -- (SoCal & Atl)

Hey All;

So I thought I'd stop in an introduce myself. I am a 25 year old car nut who just purchased his 2005 545i a month ago today. I was home for the 6 week Christmas break from a year long study abroad in Germany, and my dad and I were bumming around the local BMW dealer -- mostly just to give the used car sales men hell, and I stumbled upon a 2005 545i with 98k with Cold Weather, SMG, Sports, Shadow Line car with brand new rubber and a complete and detailed service history on the car since day 1.

Give it was the end of the month we bargained hard with the dealer and got it for about $12.3 after all the freebees we got him to throw in (new Battery, activation for battery, oil pressure sensor, spark plugs, brake fluid flush) (we actually paid $13.2. ) Now the car is sitting at home in Atlanta getting driven once a week or so and waiting for me to finish up my internship/study abroad here.

My mod list isn't as in-depth as many on here, and the first thing is to replace both valve cover seals, both upper timing chain seals, and the alternator bracket seal. There after I'm going to do;

1) Escort 9500ci with Live
2) CiC retrofit with ComBox and 6HF USB/Aux.

Probably in that order. As I'm going to put about 25k on it in the next 18 months or so, I've gotta have the 9500ci first, 12 months of driving on the Autobahn ... its going to be hard to limit myself to 140kph back in the states.

Stuff I've done to it since I picked it up;

1) Oil change
2) Trans Oil change
3) Diff fluid change
4) New Coolant Reservoir
5) New SMG Reservoir
6) 3 coats of Leatherique
7) 3 coats of Zaino
8) Battery, Spark Plugs, Oil Pressure Sensor, Brake Fluid Flush (from dealer (free))

The car was owned by another car nut who purchased it new (didn't lease it) and garage kept the thing for 8 years before swapping it out for an M5. According to my local indy, he says this is one of if not the cleanest 545is hes seen in years. Grantid this is the Atlanta market, and its hard to find a car that hasn't been nailed. (This car came from Cary NC) Good news about the service records is this 545i has had all the frequent failure stuff replaced on it (Alternator, SMG pump, Vacuum Pump, etc.,) -- save the seals which I'm having done in the next couple weeks.

Anyways I'm coming from a religious Infiniti experience having owned 4 G's in the past 10 years as well as a Toyota Corolla (had 12 hours to purchase a car on the cheap) and a Ford Fusion (too good to pass up). In Germany I own a little 2001 e46 316i which I am very confident could drive to the moon and back, albeit slowly as this is the most reliable little car I've ever come in contant with.

Anyways just thought I'd say hi.
