My Ride: 2003 525i (American Spec, E39, 2.5L I-6, 4-DR Sedan)
Model Year: 2003
Engine: E39 (186K miles)
Greetings and Salutations!
Teammates,
Greetings from Germany. Read about this site from RockAuto.com. Currently own a 2003 525i E39 (US Specs, 186K miles at this time). Bought it used from an active duty member who was moving back to the states. My wife and I were using a rental at the time and the previous owner needed to sell the 525i quick. $2000 later we were the proud owners. It has been a great touring vehicle and has made trips to France, Switzerland and Belgium. The previous owner didn't maintain maintenance records and we got the "just had all the fluids changed" schtick. We weren't too worried if the engine caved and accepted the risk. Fast forward 17 months and the Bimmer is still "croozin'." It's had some maintenance done since ownership and I do have a few questions about oil and transmission, but I'll post those in the respective forums.
Merry Christmas to all and have a great holiday season.
Cheers,
GroundRat

to the forum, GroundRat! I'm envious. I used to own an E39 myself and would have loved to tour Europe in it as you have. Congrats and good luck with it.

Jay,
Thank you for the reply. My wife and I are very impressed with how smooth it rides. It sometimes feels like we're floating on a cloud of cotton. And the trunk is h-u-g-e. We visited an IKEA in Kaiserslautern and had no problems hauling everything back to the house.
