My Ride: '04 545i Sport/6-speed
1st E60 saved my life, hoping the 2nd one won't have to
I have been around here for awhile mostly just reading and researching but not a lot of posting. I am constantly amazed and grateful for the effort that so many users put into the community and especially the DIYs! I hope to start posting more that I feel a bit more knowledgable in the workings of the forums, and I'm on my second E60 now.
Anyways, last summer my beloved '05 530i was blindsided by an Altima at 50mph, by a driver who's text message was more important than a red light. Amazingly, I walked away from it with nothing but a bruise on my shoulder and a shoe stuck in the crumpled floorpan.
The Altima's driver left in an ambulance, I admit some satisfaction at that.
After a lengthy insurance settlement due to the other party not having a driver's license and being under-insured (gotta love California). I was able to obtain an '04 545i with a manual, and its even the same color!
So far I've replaced the TCU and swapped the CD Changer for the factory iPod kit + Specdock. Then used NCSExpert to get the bluetooth (mostly) working and the iPod interface activated.
Not planning anything too extravagant to this machine for awhile, gotta love working and being a full-time student.
So I just wanted to finally say hello and express my gratitude to the users that make this place what it is! I must also express my appreciation to BMW's engineers for taking occupant safety into such great consideration in their design.
