I just spent 20 minutes reading about all the speed traps in Long Beach, where I live. I'm not a big speeder, but a $300 fine plus a Saturday in traffic school is a big enough deterrent for anyone to slow down a tad, especially in these 'known speed trap' locations. (That said, in my younger days when my right foot weighed more, I went to court and fought/won several tickets. Less hassle to just avoid them nowadays...)
