Joining Scott on congrats with the successful anniversary evening. When I came back to Brooklyn and joined my friends Stan and Julia for dinner, it turned out to be their anniversary as well, so I took them to a nice little sushi "hole in the wall" restaurant in the neighborhood ... anyway, that's not really what I wanted to say - what I wanted to say is that there seems to be more than enough people interested in good food on the forum, so I was thinking it would be nice to do a thread on NYC area restaurants (I promise I won't recommend El Greco, John )

Vlad - We've already done a few of these in the city. There are a few threads on them with pix. Member Anthony517 owns a restaurant along the West Side Hwy in Lower Manhattan. He has 2 private garages right next door where we park our own cars too, which is great. I can ask him if we can do this again. I'd be up for it. The name of the restaurant if Filliponte. They're famous for their "Angry Lobster" dish.

It was great, Scott. We went to Felidia's. Felidia is the famous Italian chef that's been on TV's PBS for 20+ years and cooked with Julia Childs and Jacque Pepin. She's pretty amazing. We did the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. It's definitely one of the top Italian restaurants in the city, but not cheap. I'm still a huge fan of Lupa on Thompson.
Next up, Per Se and Masa's.

Oh wow I use to work there before with Chef Fortunato Nicotra at Felidia, Lidia Bastianich is the owner and she use to come in every week.
Definitely great northern italian cusine... Lupa is great you should try Babo.
Per Se is awesome with their 12 course tasting but costly like $275 per person without wine.
Masa has some sick sushi...

I know the Filliponte meet was good - I was signed up to go, but my car got hit while parked during a blizzard exactly the week before it last winter and I skipped it - was basically forced to... but yes, would be a nice meet - prolly better for the cold months though...

My meal tonight at Tribeca Grill was awesome. Great food.
I need to go to one of these meets...
Eating great food and talking about cars is the best...
