I'll do some launches at SLO Meet and Greet but without AA unless I can get it into the dealership and back before the 18th. Ok, I have a call to make.

Brian1225 was looking forward to seeing how the 335i would've matched up against him. I think that at the next launch, there needs to be a 335 or EBMCS03's IS350 present. He's getting bored beating everyone. ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/rolleyes.gif)

Dang... no 335. I wanted to see how it stacks up with brians 550. His was sooo close to my IS that if brian can hang with a 335 I think the IS 350 can hang too...
ALRIGHT next time. hopfully I can make it. then brian wont be as bored... I think I can take brians 550 if I unload some petro. I had waaay too much petro in the tank last time. Almost half tank.

Of course. Here's the deal with SMG. You cannot do consecutive launches without giving the clutch time to cool off inbetween launches. I found this out the hard way. There is no literature anywhere that mentions this. It does not matter whether you use Launch Control aka Launch Mode aka Acceleration Assist or not. The first time I used AA twice back-to-back which was fine. The third time, I bounced off the rev limiter in first gear. The car didn't shift for me. I knew then I had a problem. I took the car in for servicing for other problems and told them I needed to get the AA fixed.
A month after getting my car back from the dealer I came back from going out in Hollywood Saturday night/Sunday morning around 3am. I picked a spot that had no traffic and attempted a launch in the cold morning weather hoping that would help with my runs. I did three runs. The first was with AA which I got 5.7. My second run was 5.8 with manual shifting. My third was the worst, I think it was 6.2 and that was manual as well.
I went home to San Diego later in the day. Near my home I found a secluded spot and attempted another launch using AA. To my surprise I bounced off the rev limiter again. Apparently, the car deactivated the AA feature 15 hours earlier while I was doing my three runs in LA.
So, I came to the conclusion that the car will deactivate AA whether I use AA back-to-back-to-back or not. It's protecting the clutch from overheating and any further slipping. Related to this is if the car is launched frequently in a minimal amount of rest time it will not shift into second from first. The refusal of the car to shift happened to hollywoodtrash and I this past Saturday and we both bounced off the rev limiter in first. The only way to reset the AA is to take it in and admit to the SA that I had too much fun.![Whistling](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/whistling.gif)

Ya I think jiio is right. you need to wait for at least 7 mins or drive 7 miles before launching a second time. Thats how its set up on the E60 M5. So it sounds like the regular E60 SMGs are like that too.

Brian mentioned that he doesn't brake torque at all. In one simultaneous move, he lets off the brake and stomps on the gas.

That is the problem. He's never going to get good results like grogan545 and Znod. I told him that grogan545 brake torques to 1200 rpm, lets go of the brake and applies a steady downward motion to the throttle to achieve his great times. Brian didn't have the patience to practice it. That is why hollywoodtrash had the best timed run.

This last Saturday 11/4/06, we were back together again. The usual suspects vegastrashed (545i SMG), hollywoodtrash (550i SMG), brian1225 (550i Step), heezy545i (SLK 350????) were joined by three new peeps: two 3-series: e90 325i and 330i, one Audi s4. Unfortunately, Tblax545i and EBMCS03 were not able to make it. No worries, we always get together for more runs. ![Big Grin](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/biggrin.gif)

What we need is a 550 6speed to take on brian1225's 550 Step. I'd like to see the results of that.
