I am currently planning a meet for late-September/early October that will feature Pennslyvania State Route 125 -- the "Tail of the Dragon" of the region within 3 hours drive of New York City.
Today, member zifnab and I tested out the route (it's my second time on it). It was absolutely mindblowing. The road features miles and miles of twisties and mountain hairpun turns -- all in a very rural area with little traffic.
Here are about half of my pics of the route highlights. The lunch place is Skeeter's BBQ in Shamokin Dam, Pa which overlooks the Susquehenna River. I will post more pics later, which will feature the most hellacious twisties on Rt. 125, which include a number of 15 mph mountain hairpin turns.

Nice road, great scenery, and great pics. I would join you if it wasn't a 700 mile trip just to get there. EDIT: Correction, its only 518 miles from Charlotte to Hegins, PA (on your route per a pic).
But its not the tail of the dragon. On the 11 mile TOD, there is not more than 1-2 straights anything close to what you show in the pics. The max speed I could obtain, foot to the floor anywhere on the TOD is about 80 or so.
Here is a typical section, repeated just like this for all 11 miles. Note the 3 curves in the one photo.

I could not live out in the sticks either. But there is no better place to have a serious driving meet than the sticks.
