Can someone explain to me how is the insurance when driving on Nurburgring... I guess my normal insurance does not cover any accident there, right?

So is there any other insurance for the time I am lapping there?
The Ring is a regular German raod, without speed limits. All rules and regulations apply.
Therefore, every insurance company HAS to pay for accidents that happen there.

BUT:

Your insurance will claim, that you were driving "grossly negligent". This kind of driving is NOT covered. However, reckless driving is still covered and they can't proof that your driving was "grossly negligent".
So, if you have a crash, you will have trouble with your insurance, allthough it is a regu8lar German street and they have to pay for accidents.
The outcome of a fight with your insurance could be, they pay for damages on other cars and the Ring cleaning, etc... Not for your car... And the contract is history.

However, I'd check my insurance policy to be sure, or call them.

They will not pay in any case, when you are participating in a race on closed circuit, but that you don't. The Ring is open to the public and a regular German (toll) Highway.

Probably the last e60 meet of the year at the Nurburgring

The plan is for driving on Sunday 1st for those who want to, and then meet up in the evening for a meal.

Attendees so far:

Steve Gill
Hobi
Peter530i

Anyone else?
I can't make it on Sunday, but I'll meet you guys during the afternoon/evening on Saturday.

If you are not going to be there on Saturday then I will miss you guys. There's a whole day of Jazz concerts here that I won't miss.

Let me know where and what time do we meet. I posted a reply in another thread last night as well.

Looking forward to it.

Hi Santiago

Sorry for the delay in replying and the lack of pics on the other thread - its been 18 hour days this last few weeks to make up the time for going to the ring this week

Pics will arrive soon

Back OT, Tim, Peter & Teresa, and myself and Debbie will be there Sat night. Unfortunately the circuit won't be open (I've been informed) as there is a young timers race - that might be worth watching?

Either way we'll be eating Sat eve - fancy meeting us for that?

Not sure if you have my mobile or not (I don't think I've got yours ) but I'll PM it to you anyway.

See you tomorrow!

Be good to see you again Marco - perhaps the Easter 2007 trip?

I hope there's a "later in October" time. I'm sorry I had to pull out but my buddy just came back from Iraq and there's a big get-together that I can't miss on Saturday.

What's the schedule on Monday?? I may decide to screw the work day and come out on Monday... I'd hate to miss you guys. If you are planning another meet there in October please let me know.

Let me know about Monday and see what I can do. How late are you going to be there??

Regards,
Santiago
