Do you know how that happened?? How many miles are on those tires?

The good news.........albeit a bit pricey......new wheels and tires!!

Be careful driving on those tires..........at least they're runflats....
The original Dunlops were replaced under warranty at 16,000 miles and I noticed these holes at 32,000 miles. So these tires had 16,000 miles when I saw the holes. I don't know how long they had been like that before I noticed it. The only reason I found out about the holes in the first place is because I removed the tire to fix a screw puncture and noticed the holes.

The only thing that I can think of that could have caused it is that I did not check the tire pressures for at least 8 months, and there were no FTM warnings either. Then one day I checked the pressures and realized they had dipped down to around 26 to 28 PSI (BMW's recommended pressure are 44 PSI rear and 36 PSI front). Since all the tires had gone down in pressure an equal amount the rotational speed had stayed the same compared to each other, so I guess FTM did not know anything was wrong. Also, had they been regular tires I would have noticed that the pressure was low just from looking at them, but with the runflats they looked normal....so there was no visual indication.

What is frustrating is that I knew that was one of the shortcomings of the early FTM system (not the new TPM with pressure sensors), yet I still neglected to check the pressure for a very long time.

The good news is that I am getting new wheels and tires, the bad news is I will not be able to attend the meet because the wheels are on backorder and I don't want to drive on those tires any more than absolutely necessary. They would have normally taken about a week or even less to get, but now it seems like it will take a whole month from the day I ordered them.

do drive on them still to get to work and back, but I do not feel comfortable driving on them for long distances, at high speeds, or during aggressive driving etc.........and a meet would include all of those things.
This meet will probably lack the high speeds and aggressive driving so if you're comfortable with driving to the meet location, you should be fine.

What wheels did you get?

It's still a bit of a drive on the freeway and back, so I would not feel comfortable with it.

I did not want to spend too much money, yet I wanted to have quality wheels (not replicas), so I just got one of the OEM BMW wheels. I won't say which type until I get them on and post pictures.

UPDATE!

The invisible Children show and the Wheelpower show have been merged into one!
The invisible children charity show will take place AT WHEELPOWER in Huntington Beach @ 9AM, and will be merged with the meet that is taking place at noon!

Bella Terra pwned us. They called Chris up at 10am this morning telling him that the show is off for insurance reasons, despite the fact that we were told no insurance was needed

I'll post another update including directions to wheelpower!
PLEASE, spread the word, let everyone know the show has moved to Wheelpower and it is at 9AM! we don't want bimmerheads rolling to Bella Terra and then Chris and I getting arrested
