I believe they are, saw it on the news this morning.

Saying it could be another two weeks to get the fires under control

Hopefully this huge flying watering can will help speed the process up

This thing just might be the single biggest waste of money in wildland firefighting, completely impractical. In my opinion it is all politics, proven on this forum by people thinking this is a good idea. It made a drop on the fire going on by my station and it is a complete waste. Tried to do it from something like 8,000 feet, did nothing. however, the general public does love to hear about the giant 747 supertanker coming to save the day

No sh*t! I was thinking the same thing. Dave, can you fit a 747 in there? Once you pull the Minis out there should be plenty of room.

what they need is a group of A10 which can fly low and slow or use b52 to drop some water bome
