Thanks Rollee. I wish it was like that year-round, however, that's why they call CA the golden state - the hills turn golden brown in the summer for lack of water. This is the best time of the year for the East Bay hills IMO.

"that's why they call CA the golden state" - Oh, and it might also have something to do with the gold rush of 1849...

Jenny,

i just noticed you are using GRAB ... i have Never been able to use grab ... shed some light into it for me? please ... the options in grab are never accessible (greyed out).

I use the

COMMAND + SHIFT + 3 - for full screen
or
COMMAND + SHIFT + 4 - for a selection of screen

this places a Picture#.pdf on your desktop ... not sure if you knew ...

Hi wiszmaster,

Been an avid mac user for some time now. Currently using a Power Mac G5 at work. At home, I'm using a powerbook and just recently added a Mac Mini.

That calendar thingie at the lower-right is a widget. Widgets are mini applications and quite useful actually. You can download widgets here.

If you are trying to open Grab using the Finder (Finder>Services>Grab) pulldown menu, it will not work. It's a flaw ever since. If you want Grab, you must open it from your Applications folder (HD>Applications>Utilities>Grab). Once Grab is open, you can go to Capture to capture whatever it is you want to capture.

Hope that helps.

nice. i have a dual 2.5ghz w/ 3.5gb ram & 2 HDDs ... dual 23" screens. at home i use my 15" 1.25ghz PB ...

yes, after i posted that, i looked through the applications & found grab within the utilities folder ... never played with it before .. nice to be able to save to TIFF ... i always tried to use grab through the Finder Services menu.

how do you like the Mini Mac? i've been thinking about getting one for the house ... just haven't gotten a chance to play with one yet. nearest apple store is ~2 hours away.
