I think you misspoke ever so slightly - you meant to say "Breitling", right?
Seriously though, I've been thinking about an Omega for a while, which ones would you recommend in the 3-5k MSRP range? (if any)

I just picked up a Speedmaster Chronometer/Chronograph at a nice discount from Bailey Banks (they are liquidating) last week
http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=304&p...&no_cache=1
This is a nice addition to my 12-yr old Constellation Chronometer
http://www.omega.ch/index.php?id=1357&...&no_cache=1
and a newer Steel/Pt Yacht-Master.
As you can tell, I am partial towards Chronometers.
Breitling is nice but its not for me.

I prefer the speedmaster series, and have the date model. I was going to go with the professional model (the infamous "moon" watch) but decided against it as it does NOT have the quartz crystal - it has a plastic crystal and they scratch EASY. They have the plastic because apparently little pieces of broken quartz floating around in a weightless space ship isn't ideal. The plastic, if boken, will not shatter like the quartz. Great if you plan on becoming an astronaut, but those days are gone for me.
I do like the seamaster series too though (the "007" watch). I have been thinking about one of them recently myself. Go to their website and check them out, and remember you can change the bands if you like a particular style case, bezel and dial combo.
Good luck!

sorry, didn't mean to say quartz, meant to say the "glass" covering on the watch (isn't that the crystal?)

You have a whole lot of choice for Omega in the 3-5K range. Of course, this wouldn't buy you a solid Au watch.

@bha7176: yes, plastic is definitely not preferable to sapphire glass here on Earth, 100% with you on that. thanks for the advice - so far I like this one, but that's just one of the first ones I looked at on jomashop

Time to let this one go.
I'm kind of a packrat, also. I did at this comment though

At this store, you can get it for 1400~ off MSRP, without the Omega warranty of course. It retails for $4,700 so you can probably get it at an Omega retailer for 4200-4300 or so.

My Ride: 05 545i loaded!
Watches too! This site is like an extention of my inner kid! First awesome cars, then photography (thanks john) now watches! All we need a guitar thread and i will only have to go to one forum for all my addictions! Anyways i have a couple movado's, tag and others but my current one is the Tissot T-touch it's pretty neat it has a touch sentitive saphire crystal and it's titanium! A lot lighter than my Tag. I got it because it has a built in thermo/altimeter/compass all handy things to have if you get lost in the desert! And it was pretty cheap at 400 bucks.

Wow I'm jealous of many of your watches. My dream collection would be a Rolex Daytona, Submariner, Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, Omega Seamaster James Bond Auto, Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, Panerai Marina. I won't even get into Patek's as that would only make me cry.
So far I'm rocking an old school Tag Heuer 2000 and Lum-Tec M17. The Lum-Tec is an awesome watch with an awesome company behind it. Sucks though considering what I spent on these, a little more would have brought me a Seamaster (those darn autos are more expensive on the used market than the quartz).
