Some dudes with a TV-B-Gone remote control decided to have some fun at CES by shutting off different video monitors during presentations, etc.

Take a look at the video of everyone trying to deal with the sudden loss of picture:

I guess the lesson here, if you do any sort of presenting, is to cover the IR sensors of your gear!

Oh yea, I read that one last week. Turns out the guy that did it from Gizmodo.com was banned from CES forever.

I believe the article is on Cnet.com or gizmodo.com.

Its funny, but sucks that you got caught. hahaha.

I'm surprised it never happened before this year. Years ago I used to bring a universal remote to hockey games to make sure the monitor near my seats was tuned to the proper channel, etc. (It was very often not on the right one and by the time someone from the facility showed up to fix it, the game was half over...)

WOW. That's just plain fucked up. I can imagine shutting off some of their friends displays, but taking out innocent bystanders too... especially during their presentations. That's just plain irresponsible and juvenile. I would be pissed if that was me. I hope that foo from Gizmodo got fired.

I am surprised that some of the companies have not sought lawsuits. These boots cost major bucks and they directly interfered with them financially.

Can't they just turn it right back on?

They could but most of them assumed something else was wrong (like a wire not plugged in, etc.) I imagine when it just goes out like that, it's likely that they start checking the AC power source or the associated power strips, circuit breakers, etc.

Sometimes the simplest solutions that are right in front of your nose are invisible...

Of course they could, but in these events hours and minutes count. Never the less to say any perception of a perfect show.

At minimum it would be the equivalent to making a pitcher during the world series swap out with a team member during a perfect game.

Not to mention you just made a very public mockery of them on the biggest forum in the world on YouTube! They could at least expect a note or two from a lawyer.

Actually i think this is so childish and borderline criminal! Specially when its at a serious gathering such as this, maybe it would be funny at a friends house or even in class, but when it comes to messing with peoples WORK it is plain wrong!

Looks like I'm the only one who thought this was absolutely hilarious?
